报告人简介:

        Dr. Rashid Mehmood Rana is an Associate Professor in the Department of Plant Breeding and Genetics at PMAS-Arid Agriculture University, Rawalpindi, Pakistan. He is a focused professional with 13 years of experience and proven expertise in vegetable breeding, research supervision, and project management. He holds a Ph.D. in Applied Plant Genomics from Nanjing Agricultural University, China, an M.Sc. (Hons) in Agricultural Biotechnology from the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, Pakistan. Dr. Rana's research is dedicated to advancing crop improvement and global food security through innovative plant breeding and genetics. His work encompasses functional analysis of abiotic and biotic stress-related genes and breeding for stress tolerance. He has successfully developed and secured approval for several high-yielding, stress-tolerant crop varieties, including 'Arid Okra-25' (YVMV resistant), 'Prism-25 (Sweet Pea)' (drought and powdery mildew tolerant), and a high-yielding chilli (BARI Flame) variety. Dr. Rana is also a prolific author, with contributions including over 40 peer-reviewed research papers and 8 book chapters on topics ranging from stress physiology and molecular breeding to genomics and biofortificat.
